Moments

Picture
The sun was blotted out by liquid fire
Dripping from the stratosphere
Blotting out tomorrows and yesterdays and leaving
Just a moment
Just a fraction of a second
To behold the travesty of knowing
Of holding the world for what it was
A mistake taken too far
So while we watch the day get exhausted by its own fire
You wonder what the new reality is
In megabytes and pixels
Or passing clouds and fallen leaves
What will carry us into an infinity we will never see?
What will be holding up our flimsy crystalline wings?
Making us soar just for that moment
Just for that fraction of a second
As the sun was blotted out by liquid fire
Dripping from the stratosphere
Stolen magic
Coughing and sputtering on reality
There is no tomorrow that can come too soon
A series of never ending moments
Promises being blotted out by the dripping sky
And when the monotony begins again
We say it’s not the same
It is the same
But we’ll wait for tomorrow anyway
And lie about it
But we’ll hold hands and make it through the fire that’s blocking our way
Over the stratosphere and into cool oblivion
One moment after next
And we’ll be there
The magic in broken promises has no hold
We’re on our way
